Berkeley's most at-risk children, seniors, and families urgently need our help.

The West Berkeley Foundation supports the non-profit programs hat serve our most vulnerable neighbors.

The need is great and only with your contributions can we close the gap.

Through a single donation to the West Berkeley Foundation, your dollars directly support a range of programs and projects that make the future brighter for us all. Your philanthropy will be doing urgent work right where you live and work. You will see it make a difference.

Dozens of non-profit programs struggle every day to serve Berkeley’s most disadvantaged residents. People from all walks of life give their time to help. They serve food, find shelter for a battered mom and her small children, help repair the home of an elderly widow, mentor a teenager in study habits, fix the broken arm of a 5-year-old without medical coverage, teach computer skills to a senior on a fixed income, open the worlds of art and dance to children with too few advantages, and so much more.

The West Berkeley Foundation’s mission is to help these programs do this important work without struggling quite so hard to pay the bills.

The West Berkeley Foundation has granted over $1,200,000 since 1993 to support our neighborhood. There are no politics in this process. We do not endorse candidates or positions. Our mission is single-minded:

The West Berkeley Foundation identifies opportunities to enhance the life experience of members of the historically under-served West Berkeley community. We respond to needs and help fund innovative organizations that provide services to youth, seniors, and families of West Berkeley.

The West and South Berkeley neighborhood includes vibrant business areas such as Fourth Street, the Left Bank, and International Market areas. Its residents, however, still include the highest percentage of single-parent families, students with the highest dropout rate at Berkeley High School and the least resources for children, seniors, and disadvantaged families.
